— EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK — ASTROLOGY: What It Can Do For You by Hans Holzer
is up to the person which way he is going to use that energy. I’m about ninety-nine percent accurate. I guide my clients in the investment of money or with their love life, in understanding themselves. The natal chart is the analysis of what they are like, and that is what I go by
because anything coming up in the future is based upon their natal chart, how they think.
How did you get involved in astrology?
I was a dancer and one day my choreographer said, you know, you’re a pretty lousy dancer, but you have been pretty accurate in your horoscopes for people — so why don’t you take up astrology?
Two weeks later, Lynne Palmer’s evaluation of my natal horoscope lay before me. It ran to seventy typewritten pages. All I can say is that she had my strengths and my weaknesses down pat, pointing them out with a clarity seldom found in horoscopes. Again, I wouldn’t want to bore my readers with details, but
since she knew nothing about me beyond one or two books of mine, I consider her evaluation of my personality and the kind of things I do, think, and feel extremely accurate.
The Commercial Astrologers PAGE 125
I first heard about Lynne Palmer through a satisfied customer in New York City. By the time I caught up with her, she had moved to Los Angeles. When she sat opposite me in May of 1974, in my penthouse at the Continental Hyatt House in Hollywood, she didn’t look at all like the
picture that graced — if that’s the word — her publicity release. She was much prettier and younger looking, which proved that photographers can be wrong.
Palmer is a public astrologer who is not averse to tooting her own horn whenever an opportunity presents itself, such as a television appearance with Johnny Carson or Alan Burke. She has written several astrological books, all technical except one, the horoscope of showman Billy Rose. Anyone who knew Billy
Rose, and I did slightly, must realize that a horoscope of such a genius would indeed be a challenging task.
Her life is well organized, and all of her charts are now done on tapes, which are available to her clients according to a specific price list. She even accommodates those who do not have cassette recorders by doing her thing on a reel-to-reel machine, and they have a choice of various birth charts ranging
from $33 to $70, depending on how many years’ interpretation you want into the future. So that her clients are not left in the dark as to what they are getting for their money, she explains that her forecasts contain approximately forty thousand words and may be on fifty typed
pages. Frankly, if there are any questions left to ask after scanning Lynne Palmer’s price list, it would have to be her age and dress size.
Living in Hollywood, she naturally has among her clients
such motion picture people as Mickey Rooney, Joan Bennett, and José Ferrer. Before I could even ask, she said, “In case you want personal information, I am single but dated Joe E. Lewis for eight and one-half years. I was with him when he died in 1971.”
And what do her clients think about Lynne Palmer and her horoscopes? “I have had charts done in the past and this is the first one that has really hit home.” Or, “The chart that you did for me has worked out fabulously well. Its accuracy and insight are truly remarkable.” Here is how she does it:
I have my own technique. I usually start by covering every house and aspect, and only then do I go into a complete reading, taking the dates when aspects start and when they reach the peak, which helps me to advise people what they can do with themselves; then I do the moon calculations for every single
month. It is very detailed work.
Other astrologers don’t use this technique; I have my own method putting up the progressions, the future, and what I call the final sheet form. I put all the progressions for one or two years on a large piece of paper, and then I color the aspect so that I can get an overall picture of what’s good. If
a client phones me for information, I have it all in symbolic form and readily accessible. I don’t have to recalculate anything. Within seconds I can answer anything anyone asks me because I have it all handy. I do everything scientifically and I explain to each person what planet
is causing what.
I give dates, but I don’t make predictions. Sometimes people say it’s a prediction, because later it occurs. But it is the trend, and it
